Indian Library and Information Science Literature 1985-89

The present work is a classified bibliography of Indian library and information literature published during the second half of the eighties (185-89). It is an attempt at bibliographical control of the publications pertaining to Indian librarians library and information science teachers, andother scholars, of different aspects of library and information science. It includes only English language publication, and excludes those publications produced in Indian languages. This Bibliographical Guide includes more than 2700 citations all of which are fully annotated. Most of the annotations are indicative in nature. It includes citations from professional as well as other journals, edited books, books, published seminar and conference papers and proceedings. Besides, it also includes contributions by Indian LIS auhors published in foreing professional journals as well as books edited in foreign lands. The citations are prepared according to well recognised national and international practices being closely followed for the bibliographical compilations. The abbreviations usedfor periodicals are also standardised. The citations are classified according to the 20th edition of the devey Decimal Classification system with extended schedules at various places. For the easy retrieval with the assistance of Author Index and Subject index, the citations are serially numbered. The work is divided into Five Parts: Parts I to III include citations ranging between 000 and 999; Part IV includes a supplement; while in Part V are Author and subject Indexes. It is thus not only a useful guide for students and teachers but also an indispensable source of information for those who want to conduct literature survey in any branch of library and information science.
