L.S. Ramaiah (1937-) is a senior Library professional in LIS in the country. He is presently the University Librarian, Ramesh Mohan Library, Central Institute of english and Foreign Languages, Hyderabad, he studied at the Andhra, Benaras and Osmania University and the National Archives of India, New Delhi. He was the recipient of the first Gold Medal in LIS at the Osmania University . Prof. Ramaiahis a Life Member of ILA, IASLIC, IATLIS, ALSD, and APPL. He was the Vice-President of ILA durng 1995-96; Member of the book Selection and Reseach committees of the RRRLF; was president of ALSD and he is a Member of UGC LIS Panel from 1995 onwards. Prof. Ramaiah won many awards. He was declared as Best Librarian for 1997 by IASLIC. He was awarded late Parvataneni Gangadhara Rao Memorial Award by the Potti Sriarmulu Telugu University, Hederabad and also recipient of an award from Kalajyothi, Dharmavaram. Prof. Ramaiah attended more than 50 Conferences/Seminars and Chairmed many a Sessions in addition to presenting papers on various topics of LIS at these Seminars/ Conferences. He authored 26 books and more than 100 articles which were pubished in various journals. Prof. Ramaiahvisited Cuba, USA UK and Yemen. He was an awardee of the prestigious Mortenson Fellowship of the University of Illinois of Urbana -Champign USA.
