College Library Development presents current trends in organization and management of library and information services in the context of Joy Committee Report and is intended as a manual for College Libraries. Information is the most important ingredient for higher educationand research. But college libraries to which majority of our teacher student community have to resort to for information remain as unreliable appendages. Unless they are vitalized programmes lilke INFLIBNET and ERNET can not achieve their aims. Sources which fund innovative schemes for college library development never monitors for results and so they have grown haphazardly over a century. To basically alter their direction or configuration; unprecedented will and exercise of considerable power will become necessary. Joy committee's work is the first attempt in India to modernize college libraries; that had an immediate impact. it holds potential for unprecedented achievements. College Library Development combines in one volume the full text of the Report of the Expert Committee on College Libraries and celected studies by experts on all facets of collage library system, and can provide necessary guidelines for modernizing library and information system in Colleges.
