This book fulfills the academic requirements of all levels
of students and faculty of library and information science as well as research
scholars who wish to do research in library automation and open source
solutions. Apart from above, this book is equally useful for Koha
workshop trainers, computer professionals, Koha vendors and who wish to
implement the Koha software and migration of data from their existing software
or Microsoft Excel. The book focuses on basics of library automation, Koha
library management system, and data migration. Many case studies of successful
Koha implementations and migration of data from excel/software have been
included for the purpose of better understanding of the readers.

the book is based on practical hands-on experience gained by the author in
premier Indian institutes like IIT’s, NIT’s and ISRO, etc., the content

successful implementation of automation solutions.
The author has rich practical experience in almost all domains
of library and information science and has worked in country’s leading
institutes like IIT Kanpur and IIT Roorkee and ISRO. He is presently working in
NIT Rourkela. He has also worked in ISO certified schools. The author did his
B.Sc., B.Lib & I.Sc and M.Lib & I.Sc. From Banaras Hindu University
(BHU) and did Master in Sociology from CSJMU, Kanpur. He also has a Diploma in
computer applications. Author has contributed many articles in national and
international conferences and Journals as well as delivered invited lectures in
the field of library and information science. He has conducted many workshops
in the capacity of Convener/Co-convener and has been invited as a resource
person in many workshops.
He was instrumental in implementing Koha Software at various
institutes like the Central University of Assam, Central University of Gujrat,
Central University of Jammu, Central University of Odisha, IISER Bhopal to name
a few. Apart from above author is having a wealth of experience on other open
source software like DSpace, Joomla, Wordpress, Newgenlib, and Ubuntu. The
author supports implementation of open source solution for libraries on a
voluntary basis in India and abroad via remote logins, community support forums
and by creating tools like live DVD. Author has developed a website http://mishravk.com/ for
