Clearing competitions has become a necessity in today's world where all national and state level agencies conduct examinations for various posts in degree colleges at state level and universities at national level. University Grants Commission (UGC) conducts National Eligibility Test popularly known as NET Examination for according eligibility for appointment as Lecturer in all subjects including Library and Information Science and Assistant Librarians for university and college libraries. NET is also the basis for the award of Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) for pursuing the award of M. Phil. and Ph. D. Degrees. In our country, it is mendatory to clear NET to apply for the posts of Lecturer/Assistant Librarian in the universities and now many states have adopted the same model of NET n conduct their State Level Eligibility Tests ( SLET) for recruitment as Lecturer/Librarians in Government Degree Colleges and other educational institutions run by the state government. Seeing the success of NET and SLET examinations, now even some State Public Service Commissions and College Service Commissions have started conducting examinations on the pattern of NET. The present work covers both Paper-II and Paper-III of the Library and Information Science discipline. Care has been taken to design this book on the pattern of revised syllabus of UGC. Past question papers of these examinations have been kept in mind while designing this manual. This book has been divided into parts and chapters on topical basis and in a very logical manner. Special attention has been allotted to prepare an exhaustive question bank for the objective part and enriched material and write-ups for the descriptive part of the examination papers. The unnecessary heap of question and answers has intentionally been avoided to deliver the chosen and the very best to the readers.
