This book has elegantly and convincingly demonstrated
almost each and every aspect of the new subject domain named webometrics,
taking into account the definitions that have been offered by the well-known
propounders of this subject domain. It is in no way a haphazard approach rather
a well-thought-out insight into the subject dealing with the fundamental
aspects of webometrics. This book deals with the basics of webometrics from its
definition to its various application areas and ways of conducting webometric
research. Various avenues of this subject domain have been cogently manifested
in the chapters and sub sections of this book. The first introductory chapter
describes the basic information on webometrics for the beginners. The second
chapter upholds the brief history of this subject domain. The next chapter
deals with the main ways of conducting webometrics research i.e. the areas
related to search engine optimization (SEO) including web link analysis,
content analysis etc.; web impact factor (WIF) analysis; alternative document
models (ADM), web citation analysis and the like. Various tools and techniques
of this metrical analysis (i.e. webometrics) have been discussed in this
chapter. The final concluding chapter draws a fitting finale to this book with
a focus on the criticism and future direction of this subject domain. In
realizing the basics of webometrics this book is genuinely going to help the
students of computer science as well as library and information science.
