Library Cataloguing: Resource Description and Organisation

Mallinath Kumbar, is working as Professor in the Department of Studies in Library and Information Science, University of Mysore, Mysuru. He did his B.A. from S.B. College of Arts, Kalaburagi and obtained first class and first rank in BLISc from Gulbarga University, Gulbarga. He got his MLISc degree with first class from Bangalore University in 1985. He also obtained M.A. in Political Science and Ph.D in Library and Information Science from Karnataka University, Dharwad. He has served as Assistant Librarian in Mangalore University, Mangalore and Kuvempu University, Shivamogga. He played a unique role in instituting the Department of Library and Information Science at Kuvempu University in 1993 and subsequently served there until 1999. In 1999, he was appointed as Reader in University of Mysore and became Professor in 2007. He has served as Chairman four times in the department. He was also the coordinator for UGC-SAP DRS 2 Project. He has worked in almost all the universities of South India as Board of Examiner, Chairman of Board of Studies, Selection Committee member, etc. Presently, he is serving as a member of Academic Council in University of Mysore. He served as President of Mysore Librarians and Information Scientists Association (MyLISA) from 2010 to 2013. He was also a member of the Academic Advisory Committee of UGG-HRDC, University of Mysore. The author has also bagged the credit of successfully guiding twenty three Ph.D and five M.Phil. students. At present eight doctoral students are pursuing Ph.D under his guidance. More than 230 research papers have been published in national and international journals. He has authored 2 books and edited 5 books. He is a member of the Editorial Board for International Journal "JISTaP" published from South Korea. He has 8 awards and rewards for his academic excellence to his credit.

 Chidananda M. is working as Librarian in JSS Law College, Autonomous, Mysuru. He did his B.Sc. from JSS College of Arts, Commerce and Science, Mysuru and MLISc from Department of Studies in Library and Information Science, University of Mysore. He obtained PGDLAN from Annamalai University and cleared K-SET in December 2013. He has also worked in Amrita University, Mysuru Campus for six months. He served as Treasurer for Mysore Librarians and Information Scientists Association (MyLISA) from 2018 to 2021 and member for various professional associations as well.
