This book aims to open knowledge doors to management of library and information centres in India. It is designed to meet the requirements of various library science students. It is created so that the students understand the topics easily. The first unit starts with an introduction to management. It briefly explains the concept, definition and scope of management. It gives a detailed explanation of the schools of management, it further gives us information about system analysis and system design. The next unit handles human resource management. It helps us understand the organization models clearly. It also explains job descriptions and job analysis. It walks us through selection, recruitment, training, development etc. It also tells us the duties and responsibilities of the HRM and helps us learn about leadership and team building. The third unit elaborates the financial management. It starts with planning and controlling resource generation and further educates us about budget and budgetary control techniques. Management of materials is explained in detail in the fourth chapter, it explains the collection development and evaluation policy of the library. It addresses the issues relating to selection acquisition and library routines. It further enlightens us about circulation, preservation and conservation. The fifth and final unit deals with planning and planning strategies. It starts with a basic concept and definition and proceeds to explain in detail the need for MBO and the steps in planning MBO and concludes with planning techniques and decision-making.

P.Balasubramanian is presently working as University Librarian and Head, Department of Library and Information Science, Manonmaniam Sundaranar University, Tirunelveli (Tamil Nadu). His qualifications are M.C.A.,M.B.A.,M.A.,(Eng.),M.A.,(His)., M.L.I.Sc., M.Phil., PGDPR and Ph.D., He is a life member of various Professional Associations. He has contributed 73 books (Tamil and English) around 156 papers in seminars, conferences and refereed journals. He has organized many national and international seminars and workshops in various emerging topics of Library and Information Science. He has produced 9 M.Phil. and 28 Ph.D. scholars and is presently guiding 8 Ph.D. scholars. He has been teaching Library and Information Science for the past 21 years.

 N. Ashok Kumar is currently working as Deputy Librarian in the University Library, Tamil Nadu Physical Education and Sports University, Chennai. He has published nine articles in journals and has received Tamil Nadu State Planning Commission’s Innovative Initiatives Scheme Project for the establishment of E-library in university campus. He has received Best Librarian Award from Madras Library Association (MALA) during the year 2022 and Best Paper Award from West Bengal College Librarians Association(WBCLA) during the year 2021.
