The present situation of the modern library system
differs from all previous situations; the library technologies
are undergoing active digitalization. Building a multimedia
library is big undertaking, but it is very exciting one and
one that will ensure a library a place in the hearts and minds
of the users of the 21st Century. This work considers in depth
the issues surrounding the analytical study of multimedia
library resources and tools. The first Chapter provides
introduction to the Multimedia Library and Multimedia
technology. The second chapter describes the multimedia
resources and tools in detail. The third chapter describes
multimedia sock and multimedia catalogue. The fourth
chapter describes the influence of multimedia on the interior
design of libraries. The fifth and final chapter describes tune
retrieval in the multimedia libraries.
This book “Multimedia Libraries : Global Scenario”
addresses important issues and directs the reader to consider
them and decide on their unique solution. There are
numerous resources and further reading for all these issues
to assist the reader in obtaining a well-rounded view of the
issue and to show what others have done, and what the
current thinking is.

Leela Dhar Mangi, M.Com, MLIS, M.Phil (LIS), DCA,
was awarded gold medal for securing first position in Library
& Information Science. He has qualified UGC-NET, JKSLET
(Assistant Librarian) and JKSET for lectureship. He has
served as online Librarian in the “The Himalayan Mail” an
English Daily of Jammu & Kashmir. He was founder
Librarian at Dogra Law College, first Law College in the state
of Jammu & Kashmir. He has established two University
libraries by serving as Assistant Librarian at Sher-e-Kashmir
University of Agricultural Sciences & Technology of Jammu and
founder Deputy Librarian at Baba Ghulam Shah University,
Rajouri. He is also patron of Indian Library Association and
life member of Indian Association of Special Libraries and
Information Centers. He has contributed in several local and
national workshops / seminars / conferences /orientation
/ refresher courses including lectures at International
Resource Cell and has publications/ reviews at International
level. He has acted as an instructor in the discipline of Library
& Information services for post Graduate and Doctoral
students. Working as independent researcher and research
interests include human behaviour, agricultural libraries,
librarianship, information systems, motivation and job
satisfaction, working conditions of library professionals.
Mobilize funds from funding agencies in the form of projects
at SKUAST-J Library and at BGSB University. Mr. Mangi
has spent more than three years under faculty improvement
programme at University of Jammu, Jammu. He has received
offers for Librarianship from Jammu & Kashmir High Court,
JK Public Service Commission, JK Higher Education
Department, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University, Kakryal.
Recently, he has received a certificate of a Reviewer’s
excellence certificate from UK.
