Growth of Literature and measures of Scientific Productivity: scientometric Models is the text of the 27th Sarada Ranganathan Endowment Lectures delivered by Dr. I.K. Ravichandra Rao, professor and Head, Documentation Research and Training Centre, Indian Statistical institute, during 18-20 December 2008 in Bangalore.
The lectures cover two types of science indicators-quantitative and qualitative. Different growth models applicable to growth of literature; indicators related to scientific productivity of scientists, and issues in scientometrics are discussed in the these lectures.

RAVICHANDRA RAO, INNA KEDAGE is on the Faculty of the Documentation Research and Training Centre (DRTC) of the Indian Statistical Institute (ISI). Currently he is Professor and Head of DRTC. He was Head of the Indian Statistical Institute, Bangalore Centre from Oct. 2002 to Sept. 2007.

After having completed B.Sc. in Mathematics and Statistics from the Mahatma Gandhi Memorial College, Udupi in 1968, Prof. Rao obtained his Master's degree in Statistics and Diploma in Computer Science from the Indian Statistical Institute, Calcutta. In 1975, he did associateship in Documentation from DRTC. He received his Ph. D. degree from the University of Western Ontario, Canada, in 1981. He has been with DRTC since September 1970.
He was awarded the Fellowship of the Society for Information Science, New Delhi, in 1996 for his contribution to information Science.
